What does your job involve?

I started my professional carrier at S&T UNITIS, a major system integrator company as a facility management expert. Later on I joined NeoCon as a senior FM consultant and project manager, which helped me to widen my understanding of the Facility Management profession and to acquire practical knowledge by participating in large-scale projects. Having acquired my first degree in architecture, planning, modelling and drawing related issues during my work always represented an area where I was confident in being able to add value. The property related Facility Management consultancy was the main area of my everyday practice.

Where did you do your training & what did it involve (which university did you attend & which course did you study)?

I graduated from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME). on the Faculty of Architecture in 1999 and obtained MSc degree in Architecture and Building Engineering. My thesis work was a Museum and Cultural Centre in Melbourne Australia, for PLEA ‘99 competition, at the 16th International Conference on Passive and Low Energy Architecture (University of Queensland).

In 2000 I was admitted to the postgraduate course of the BME, Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Nottingham Trent University. In 2003 I acquired MSc degree in Real Estate.

Currently I am a full-time PhD student at the Csonka Pál Doctoral School at the BME, on the Faculty of Architecture. I am honored to be a student in the Doctoral School and I have an opportunity to study engineering sciences from academics and professors of the university.

What has been a career highlight/most interesting project you've worked on?

NeoCon as a subcontractor of the T-Systems Hungary won the Facility Management System implementation of Hungarian Post. The key issue was to implement a Facility Management system including Property management, Asset management, Maintenance management, and Energy management. In 2004 NeoCon won the inventory instruction by the Hungarian Financial Supervisory Authority. The aim was to taking complete inventory with visual space planning and making classifications and reports of the data supported by the CAFM system.

The main function of the Harbor Park is primarily storage and management of these areas are where the warehousing, light industry and assembly operations are in progress. The implementation of CAFM system to support the technical operation and maintenance obligations of Logistic Park started before I joined NeoCon. During the Raiffeisen Real Estate project my task was the audit of the architectural plans of the property portfolio of the Raiffeisen Real Estate Fund including Rózsakert Shopping- and Entertainment Centre.

How do you see the real estate profession to represent the university education and research?

There are universities world-wide where faculties or departments offer graduate programs in real estate. These programs usually emphasize the business side of real estate, valuation, financing, marketing or facility management and students lack the adequate understanding of real estate processes.

Another way of providing real estate education consists of academic initiatives, for instance postgraduate real estate programmes initiated by real estate related university which offers the courses. Hungarian real estate institutions also have the mission of promoting national real estate education and the exchange of real estate research ideas. There is much specific knowledge in the professional sector, that could be useful in the academic sector and vice versa therefore I find very useful to the R&D&I partnerships.

What does the RICS qualification mean to you?

To be a member of the RICS is a great honor and also a great responsibility for me. I have to represent the Institution at international scientific conferences and in my publications in academic journals. In addition, it is also a pleasant obligation because I can contact with many persons who have a high level of professional experience and are committed to share their knowledge.
